No Outlets

Our son saw the sign - No Outlets, on a street and said that he wouldn't want to live on a street like that... We asked why and he said "You wouldn't be able to plug anything in"...

Pizza

We're sitting around the table one night for dinner eating pizza.  I turned to Kaley and said, "Wow, Kaley, that's your third piece of pizza!"  She looks at me and replies, "Is there a problem with that?".

Blessings

Kaley's aunt Tammie was praying for our dinner and at the end of her prayer she said - " and bless and nourish this food to our bodies". We started eating and Kaley asked us what inertia was - we were all a bit surprised that our seven year old would be asking about a scientific principle. We asked her where she hear that and she said - "Aunt Tammie just prayed about it - bless this food and inertia it to our bodies..." :-)

Seriously?

We're sitting in a restaurant waiting for our food to arrive and Kaley starts snapping her fingers. I didn't remember that she could do this so I said, "Kaley, you just snapped your fingers?" She drops her head looks up at me like "Are you serious Mom?" and then actually said, "Mom, I've been snapping all my life!". She's only 6 years old.

Emotion

Kyle was upset about not getting a piece of candy at church, so I asked him if he would be hurt by not getting one. He asked, "physically?" and I said yes to which he responded "no, but I will emotionally". I had to laugh out loud at my 8 year old as he did it with a straight face...

08/12/2007 (All day)

No Rules

Kaley was conversing with Uncle Mike O. about how long her hair is.  She proceeded to tell him that Mom said she is going to need a haircut soon because it's Mom's rule that her hair not be longer than shoulder length.  Uncle Mike said, "But Mom's hair is longer than that."  To this Kaley replied, "Yeah, that's because Mom doesn't have rules."

04/14/2007 (All day)

Control

We asked Kyle why we should allow him to play video games.  His answer was, "So I can learn to control technology."

The Garden of Eden

Kyle, after not liking being punished for doing something wrong said, "it's not all my fault". I asked, "who's fault is it then?" and he replied "It's Adam and Eve's fault, if they didn't mess up in the Garden, I wouldn't be doing these things".

Slow Motion

Kaley said to Keith, "My new slippers are bouncy when I run!". Keith replied, "Are you suppose to be running in the house?" To this Kaley replied, "It was the slow version of running".

Dictionary

Kyle asked the question, "Why do we need a dictionary when we have parents?".

09/21/2006 (All day)

Bugs

We were discussing with Kaley how frogs eat bugs. I was explaining how it's ok because God gave frogs special cleaners so they don't get sick from the bugs germs. Kaley replied, "Yeah, just like we use napkins!".

One of those Times

Kyle said "There are times when I need to tell you things that are really important...this is one of those times." He then went on to say "I am concerned about some of Kaley's actions...", of course, he was very serious but I couldn't help but laugh at my 'old' 6 year old.

05/29/2006 (All day)

Faith

While Kyle was praying before bedtime he prayed for God to "...keep the terrorists safe." Well, first we asked him if he knows what a terrorist is. He said yes and began giving us the proper explaination. Then we asked him why he prayed for their safety? He said, "What I meant was for God to keep them safe from hell and I prayed for them because God tells us to pray for our enemies." -What we can learn from the faith of a child.

Memories

Kyle came downstairs after having a bad dream and after putting him back to bed he looked at me and said "I wish I had short term memory loss, so I could forget about the bad dream right away".

Invisible

The teacher told Renee's class that God is everywhere. Renee, 4 1/2, said that God is right here with us. The teacher said, "He is?" and started looking in the cabinets and under the table. Renee laughed and said that you can't see God. "Well, why can't we see God?" Renee replied, "Because He's blind." (submitted by Beckster)

Jonah

Kyle felt he was owed a second chance after getting into trouble. Keith asked him why and Kyle said, "God gave Jonah a second chance." Keith's response - "Only after he spent 3 days in the belly of a whale".

01/17/2006 (All day)

Up sleeves and Down Sleeves

Kaley calls short sleeved shirts "up sleeves" and long sleeved shirts "down sleeves". We're still trying to figure that one out.
