Introduction
Here's an easy way to make pizza calzones, or substitute your favorite "stuffings" to make a calzone of your choice!
Ingredients
frozen bread dough defrosted
pizza sauce
shredded mozzarella or pizza cheese mix
optional: garlic
optional: crushed red pepper
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Once your bread dough is defrosted, divide the loaf into 2 or 3 pieces depending on how big you want your calzones to be. Stretch or roll the dough out to approximately 1/4 inch thick. On half of the dough you place your "stuffings", in this case, the pizza sauce, cheese, garlic and crushed red pepper (if you want them!) then fold the other half of the bread dough over to form a pocket for all of the goodies inside to bake in. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet and back for 15-20 minutes. Depending on how your oven bakes, it may only take 15 minutes for your calzone to get a light brown crust on it, it may take longer. Let the calzone cool a bit so you don't burn your fingers or the roof of your mouth, then enjoy with some additional pizza sauce or garlic butter for dipping!
